Chi Cubs (58-40) at Arizona (48-50)

TV: CSN Chicago | Radio: WGN 720 9:40 pm ET Chase Field TV: FSN-HD, KPHE 44 | Radio: KTAR 620, KSUN 1400
After a nine-run outburst in their finale against the Astros, the Cubs will look to stay hot at the plate as they head to Arizona for a three-game set.

Cubs probable pitcher

Rich Harden

  • #40 RHP
  • (5-1) 2.19 ERA 102 SO
Cubs: This will be Harden's second start for the Cubs since he was acquired in a six-player deal from the Athletics. In his debut at Wrigley Field on July 12, he struck out 10, his third career double-digit strikeout game, and threw 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Harden was pulled after 96 pitches. The Cubs will be keeping an eye on his pitch count in hopes of avoiding injury.

For the next three nights, you might not know who's rooting for whom at Chase Field. That's because the Cubs, who always have a huge fan turnout on the road -- especially in Phoenix -- will be making their annual trip here for a three-game set.

Diamondbacks probable pitcher

Randy Johnson

  • #51 LHP
  • (6-7) 5.23 ERA 95 SO
D-backs: The Big Unit was probably already in line for his 290th career win against the Phillies, but his two-run double certainly helped his own cause last time out. After going winless in eight starts, Johnson has won two in a row. Johnson missed the Cubs at Wrigley Field, but has never lost to the Cubs in his career, going 12-0 with a 1.98 ERA in 13 starts, including three complete games and an average of more than 10 strikeouts a game.

Harden has hard luck

Rich Harden held the Diamondbacks hitless through five, but it was his one mistake in the sixth inning that was costly. Alex Romero homered off the right-hander, delaying Harden's first win as a Cub in spite of his stellar effort.

Johnson tosses gem

Randy Johnson looked like the stud southpaw of old, as he took care of the Cubs on a night when his offense gave him little support. Alex Romero hit his first career homer, which broke up Rich Harden's no-hit bid in the sixth.
