Myers was optioned to the Minor Leagues last month to rediscover his fastball and swagger, which the righty feels he's accomplished. He made four starts at three levels, with positive results. He has not faced the Mets this season.

With his loss to the Reds on Friday, Maine has gone four starts without a victory -- he had lost twice -- and he has pitched merely 19 innings in the process. He has been neither effective nor particularly lucky. Maine's two starts against the Phillies this season have produced modest performances and no decisions, but each was a part of a Mets victory. His career numbers against them before this season include a 4-0 record and 2.13 ERA. And he's been more successful at Shea than he has been elsewhere -- 4-1 in nine starts -- this year.
