Marlins anticipate playing at Wrigley

It's one of the most historic ballparks in all of baseball, a monument for some of the greatest moments in the game's history and, for the next four days, the Marlins' second home. "It's a great place to play, and we're looking forward to it," Dan Uggla said about Wrigley Field.

Marlins probable pitcher

Scott Olsen

  • #34 LHP
  • (6-4) 3.84 ERA 64 SO
Marlins: After holding the high-powered Phillies offense to four runs (three earned) in five innings on Saturday, Olsen picked up his second straight win. That's a big feat considering the 24-year-old went winless in his previous 11 starts. One problem for Olsen pretty much all year, however, has been his velocity. Against the Phillies, the lefty threw 93 pitches, but most of them barely reached 90 mph on the radar gun -- a big reason why he did not record a strikeout for the first time since April 25.

Cubs welcome brief stop home

After a 2-4 road trip, the Cubs open a brief, but welcome four-game series against the Florida Marlins.

Cubs probable pitcher

Carlos Zambrano

  • #38 RHP
  • (10-4) 2.98 ERA 81 SO
Cubs: Zambrano wasn't as sharp in his most recent outing, as he walked six in 6 1/3 innings in a 4-1 loss at Houston Saturday night, his first loss to an NL Central Division opponent this season. It was the right-hander's third start since coming off the disabled list. Zambrano has not faced the Marlins this season and is 3-1 with a 2.54 ERA in seven career games against Florida.

Cubs end 10-game skid vs. Fish (53-49) (60-42)

Cubs 6, Marlins 3

Marlins lose ground

The Marlins had the Cubs' number since late April 2006, when they started a 10-game winning streak over Chicago. But the fun ended on Thursday for the Marlins, who scored just one run with the bases loaded in the eighth inning and left them full in the ninth.

Catching some Z's

Carlos Zambrano pitched seven strong innings, hit an RBI double and scored the go-ahead run as the Cubs retained sole possession of first place in the NL Central. A diving catch by right fielder Mark DeRosa in the eighth inning saved a possible Florida comeback.
