When Joba Chamberlain made his last start, the plan to put Ivan Rodriguez in pinstripes was being ironed out. A day later, Rodriguez was in uniform and volunteering to catch bullpen sessions just to familiarize himself with the Yankees' starting rotation.

Yankees: Making his first appearance since he bested the Red Sox in his finest starting performance to date, Chamberlain limited Baltimore to two runs (one earned) over six innings Wednesday to post his second victory in as many starts. The Rangers not only have to battle the Yankees in their next series, they also have to battle the elements. It's expected to be 104 degrees on Monday, but by gametime it could dip below 100, a cooling trend after Sunday's starting temperature of 103, the highest in the Majors this season.
