Reds: Getting through the first inning cleanly has been an issue for Cueto, especially in his past two starts. He threw 26 first-inning pitches two starts ago and 27 in the first during a 3-1 Reds win over the Pirates on Thursday. The rookie lasted only five innings and allowed one earned run and four hits, with three walks and seven strikeouts, in what became a solid outing.

Cubs: Harden picked up a win in his last start, his second since joining the Cubs on July 8. However, it wasn't pretty. He retired the first eight batters he faced, then walked the bases loaded. Harden finished with five scoreless innings and gave up two hits and walked five. He had trouble with his fastball -- it was up in the warmups and in the game. He'll be working on six days rest against the Reds.
