Sox beginning to find road friendly

In the midst of a nine-game road trip, the White Sox head into the finale vs. the O's looking for a sweep and trying to continue their recent success away from Chicago.

White Sox probable pitcher

John Danks

  • #50 LHP
  • (10-6) 3.16 ERA 130 SO
White Sox: The left-hander threw 6 1/3 innings and gave up three runs to the Rays on Friday, and exited the game trailing 3-2. He picked up the loss despite the quality start. That?s the way it's gone for Danks this season, having lost two starts earlier to the Red Sox even though he surrendered just two runs over seven innings. He'll try to turn things around against Baltimore, against who -- not coincidentally -- he faced once this year and lost to despite a quality start. Danks allowed two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings.

O's rotation questions go unanswered

The O's have only two set starters heading into the finale against the White Sox, and one of those two just had an MRI on his throwing shoulder.

Orioles probable pitcher

Radhames Liz

  • #62 RHP
  • (4-3) 7.32 ERA 37 SO
Orioles: Liz returned to the Orioles and pitched reasonably well in his last outing, but he also gave up back-to-back home runs at one point and was gone before the end of the fifth inning. Liz, who may ultimately project as a reliever in the big leagues, has a big fastball and an inconsistent manner on the mound. The Orioles have stressed how important it is for him to maintain his confidence, and he'll be watched carefully for the rest of the year.

O's look Rad-ical in win (76-57) (63-70)

Orioles 11, White Sox 3

Short night for Danks

John Danks didn't make it to the fifth inning and the rest of the White Sox bullpen got hit hard too. Offensively, Paul Konerko and Jermaine Dye went deep, but Minnesota's win earlier in the day cut Chicago's lead in the AL Central Division to one game.

Liz gets help

Radhames Liz had one of his better outings and Baltimore's bats gave him plenty of help, banging out 16 hits to help Baltimore avert a sweep. Aubrey Huff had three hits and drove in three runs, including a homer.
