With just six games left at Yankee Stadium, young White Sox players such as Josh Fields, Lance Broadway, Jerry Owens, Jason Bourgeois and John Danks didn't want to miss a chance to explore before the start of the South Siders' final four games at the House that Ruth Built.

White Sox probable pitcher

Gavin Floyd

  • #34 RHP
  • (15-7) 3.77 ERA 125 SO
White Sox: Through seven innings on Thursday against the Blue Jays, Floyd put up zeros against one of baseball's hottest teams. But Toronto got to Floyd for four in the eighth, as part of a six-run rally, ending Floyd's five-game winning streak and a stretch of nine straight starts without a loss. Floyd struck out two and walked one over 7 1/3 innings, giving him 125 strikeouts and 67 walks over 181 1/3 innings this season. Floyd received a no-decision against the Yankees this season, having allowed five runs in six innings during his lone start, and has no lifetime mark against New York either. Tuesday marks his second appearance and first start at Yankee Stadium.

Coke impressing Yanks out of bullpen

Left-hander Phil Coke knew who he was in line to face when he was called out of the bullpen Monday night with the score tied. After he retired the first White Sox batter he faced, Coke stood on the mound and watched Ken Griffey Jr. walk to the plate.

Yankees probable pitcher

Andy Pettitte

  • #46 LHP
  • (13-13) 4.52 ERA 151 SO
Yankees: Pettitte's struggles on the mound continued on Wednesday as he gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits to make an early exit after just 4 2/3 innings. He delivered a solid performance until the fifth inning, when he got into trouble and found himself in a bases-loaded jam. It marked Pettitte's fourth straight losing decision. While he is traditionally successful in the second half of the season, the veteran has posted a 3-6 record with a 5.43 ERA since the All-Star break. He has not faced the White Sox this season.

Jeter makes history, White Sox get 'W' (84-66) (80-71)

White Sox 6, Yankees 2

Sox even series

Gavin Floyd tossed seven solid innings for his 16th win, and the White Sox used a balanced offensive attack to even their series with the Yankees. Alexei Ramirez homered, Juan Uribe drove in two runs and Paul Konerko notched two hits.

Jeter stands alone

Derek Jeter laced a single to left field in the first inning to move past Lou Gehrig for the most hits in Yankee Stadium history, but the Bombers couldn't get going offensively and Andy Pettitte struggled in a loss to the White Sox.
