If there was such thing as a 10th-Man award in baseball, outfielder Willie Harris would be the clear cut winner for the Nationals.

Nationals probable pitcher

Odalis Perez

  • #45 LHP
  • (7-11) 4.27 ERA 114 SO
Nationals: Perez may have pitched his last game at Nationals Park. If so, the free agent-to-be gave the hometown fans a quality start. Unfortunately, Perez didn't get the win, as the Padres defeated the Nationals, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon. Perez pitched six innings, giving up three runs on five hits. He also struck out a career-high 11 batters. However, Perez experienced two bad innings. In the first inning, Perez gave up a two-run double to Kevin Kouzmanoff. Five innings later, Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run.

Clinching the NL East title on Saturday afforded the Phillies the luxury of not having to use Cole Hamels or the other regulars for a meaningless regular-season game on Sunday.

Phillies probable pitcher

Kyle Kendrick

  • #38 RHP
  • (11-9) 5.46 ERA 67 SO
Phillies: A 6.45 ERA in a nine-start stretch forced the Phillies to yank Kendrick from the starting rotation, but he will start Sunday in Cole Hamels' place after the Phillies clinched the division. Kendrick's issue in the second half has been the lack secondary pitches, and opponents buried him. Left off the playoff roster for the Division Series, the right-hander could re-join the team in the NLCS, should the Phillies advance.

Nationals lose finale

The Nats' final game of the season got off to a good start as they took a two-run lead into the bottom of the fourth, but couldn't hold off the Phillies. Luke Montz went deep for the first time, while Kory Casto and Alberto Gonzalez each drove in a run.

Phils complete sweep

Resting their regulars a day after clinching the NL East title, the Phils received a big lift from their backups to sweep the Nats. So Taguchi drove in three runs and catcher Lou Marson, making his debut, hit a two-run homer in the regular-season finale.
