The Dodgers landed plenty of jabs against the Phillies with their bats, recording a 7-2 victory on Sunday night in Game 3 of the best-of-seven National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium.

Phillies probable pitcher

Jamie Moyer

  • #50 LHP
  • (0-0) -.-- ERA 0 SO
Moyer struggled in his NLDS start against the Brewers. He threw 34 pitches in the first inning, more than he threw in any first inning of 2008. After four innings on the hill, manager Charlie Manuel lifted Moyer for a pinch-hitter. Still, Moyer has provided consistency to the Phils' starting rotation this season, leading the team in regular-season victories, with 16. He also has League Championship Series experience under his belt, having won in his only start for the Mariners during the 2001 ALCS against the Yankees. Moyer has not faced the Dodgers in 2008.

Kuroda looks to kick-start Dodgers

Just because he was the Dodgers' best pitcher against Philadelphia during the regular season, Hiroki Kuroda knows that does not necessarily mean he will shut down the Phillies again when he takes the ball in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Sunday with Los Angeles trailing, 0-2.

Dodgers probable pitcher

Hiroki Kuroda

  • #18 RHP
  • (0-0) -.-- ERA 0 SO
Kuroda had never pitched in a postseason game until he clinched the National League Division Series against the Cubs, when he didn't look like a rookie in pitching 6 1/3 scoreless innings. He pitched well in a tough no-decision in Philadelphia on Aug. 24, allowing one run in six innings. He was even better beating the Phillies in Los Angeles 10 days earlier, allowing one run in seven innings. He will be pitching on eight days' rest. His ERA this year with more than four days' rest is 2.86.

Dodgers answer challenge (2-1) (1-2)

Dodgers 7, Phillies 2

Early fall for Phillies

Game 3 had a little bit of everything, including a benches-clearing incident, but in the end, the result didn't translate into a commanding NLCS lead for veteran left-handed starter Jamie Moyer and the Phillies, who couldn't overcome a Dodgers five-run first.
