Olsen ready to face former team

Nationals left-hander Scott Olsen will always have a warm spot for the Marlins, as he broke into the bigs with them -- but on Tuesday, it'll be all business as he faces them on the mound.

Olsen will face the Marlins, his former team, for the first time in his career. The southpaw threw a career-high 201 2/3 innings last year. It was his best season since 2006, when he went 12-10 with a 4.04 ERA. It helped that he developed a changeup to go along with his fastball and slider.

Johnson eager for full season of work

Josh Johnson, more than anything, wants a full season to pitch after not getting on the mound until July last season. On Tuesday, his journey begins as the Marlins take on the Nationals.

Josh Johnson

A year ago, Johnson opened the season on the disabled list, as he was recovering from Tommy John ligament replacement surgery. This year, the 25-year-old is the No. 2 starter. Johnson made a strong showing in the second half of '08, finishing up with seven wins in eight decisions. He logged 87 1/3 innings. Two of his wins a year ago were against Washington.

Nats overpowered

Scott Olsen used to call Dolphin Stadium his home, but it wasn't kind to the left-hander in his first start against his former team. With a big hole to dig out of, the Nationals were handcuffed by the pitching prowess of the Marlins.

Power? Check -- homers by Jorge Cantu and Dan Uggla. Speed? Check -- Ronny Paulino got his first career triple. Pitching? Check -- Josh Johnson was sharp all night. The Marlins did it all in their takedown of the Nationals.
