LA Dodgers (34-15) at Chi Cubs (23-23)

TV: PRIME | Radio: KABC 790, KHJ 930 2:20 pm ET Wrigley Field TV: CSN | Radio: WGN 720
The Dodgers are expecting to have catcher A.J. Ellis when they face Cubs on Friday, with the backstop taking the roster spot of Will Ohman, who is headed to the 15-day DL with a sore left shoulder.

Dodgers probable pitcher

Chad Billingsley

  • #58 RHP
  • (6-2) 2.82 ERA 69 SO
In his worst start of the year, Billingsley was staked to a four-run lead in the second inning and let it get away in a three-run sixth. Billingsley had trouble with his cut fastball and the Angels weren't helping because they wouldn't chase his breaking ball. He'll be facing the Cubs, who he beat in the playoffs last year.

Lilly not necessarily happy Manny's out

Though he'll have one less power bat to deal with, Ted Lilly will be a little disappointed Manny Ramirez won't be in the lineup when he face the Dodgers at Wrigley Field.

Cubs probable pitcher

Ted Lilly

  • #30 LHP
  • (5-4) 3.77 ERA 47 SO
Lilly is coming off an up-and-down start against the Padres in which he allowed five runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out four in 6 1/3 innings. However, he pitched four scoreless innings to start. He has pitched six or more innings in 142 career starts, going 83-32. He has thrown six or more innings in seven starts this season. Lilly victor in daylight duel (34-16) (24-23)

Cubs 2, Dodgers 1

Billingsley outdueled

Matt Kemp broke a scoreless tie with a solo home run in the seventh inning, but Chad Billingsley, who stifled the Cubs through six, yielded two runs in the bottom of the frame to take a tough-luck loss. The Dodgers mustered just five hits, snapping a four-game win streak.

Cubs get Lilly's back

Ted Lilly was masterful through six innings before allowing a solo home run for the first run of the game in the seventh. But the Cubs' bats made him a winner, as Koyie Hill stroked a solo homer in the bottom of the frame and Kosuke Fukudome added a sac fly to help even the series.
