Minnesota (30-32) at Chi Cubs (29-28)

TV: FS-N | Radio: TRN 1500 2:20 pm ET Wrigley Field TV: WGN | Radio: WGN 720
This weekend's series will mark the first career trip to Wrigley Field for many Twins players, and they are looking forward to the historic atmosphere.

Twins probable pitcher

Kevin Slowey

  • #59 RHP
  • (8-2) 4.21 ERA 51 SO
Slowey struggled to keep the ball down in the zone during his last start, at Seattle, where he gave up four runs on 10 hits in 4 2/3 innings in taking the loss. Three of the four runs Slowey allowed came via solo home run. Of the 35 runs that he has allowed this season, 16 have come via the homer -- good for 46 percent. The loss against the Mariners snapped a career-high four-game winning streak for Slowey. He'll try to start up a new run when he faces the Cubs for the first time in his career.

Wells seeking elusive Major League win

Randy Wells hears from friends and family after every start. Either he'll get a phone call or a text message, telling him something he already knows -- he has yet to win a Major League game.

Cubs probable pitcher

Randy Wells

  • #36 RHP
  • (0-2) 1.86 ERA 31 SO
Maybe Wells needs to face an American League team to get a win. The rookie has thrown five consecutive quality starts, has a sub 2.00 ERA, has held opponents to a .220 batting average against him, and he can't get a win. In his last start, Wells gave up two runs over 6 2/3 innings against the Reds. He's been solid, hasn't complained, and now will open the Interleague portion of the Cubs' schedule.

Slowey but surely, Twins beat Cubs (31-32) (29-29)

Twins 7, Cubs 4

Right-hander solid

Keven Slowey handcuffed the Cubs over six solid innings, fanning a season-high 10 batters while walking just one. Joe Mauer continued his torrid first half of the season, tying a career high with his 13th home run as the centerpiece of a 2-for-4 day, and Jason Kubel belted his 10th in the ninth.

Bungles in the outfield

Milton Bradley was at the center of it all for the Cubs on Friday, but not necessarily in a good way. Bradley's two-run double keyed a three-run sixth, but he made two defensive miscues, including tossing a ball into the stands with runners on base after making the second out of the eighth.
