Danks lasted into the eighth inning for the first time all season but was upstaged by Tigers starter Justin Verlander in a 2-1 loss Wednesday night at U.S. Cellular Field. Danks went 7 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on five hits. He struck out seven and walked two. Danks had been 3-0 in five starts this season when going six innings or more. Danks has faced the Cubs once, on June 20, 2008. In that game, he surrendered one run on five hits in six innings at Wrigley Field. He struck out five and walked none while receiving a no-decision.
