The advice Marlins pitching coach Mark Wiley is giving to his young staff is simple -- pitch your game and not to the park. Florida will look to implement that strategy on Wednesday night with Andrew Miller on the mound.
Marlins probable pitcher
Andrew Miller
- #23 LHP
- (2-2) 4.30 ERA 37 SO
Miller struggled some in the first inning his last time out on Thursday, but then found his groove, retiring 14 straight Cardinals before allowing a one out single to Rick Ankiel in the sixth. The 24-year-old allowed three runs on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings while striking out eight. Miller will face the Red Sox in his next start. The big left-hander has had success against them before, allowing one run on three hits over seven innings while striking out six. Of the current group of Red Sox, only Mark Kotsay has ever recorded a hit against him.

Mike Lowell's inclusion in the trade for Josh Beckett was more of an afterthought than added cause for celebration. Three years have passed since the trade, and it's safe to say Lowell's 2005 futility could not have been more of an aberration.
Red Sox probable pitcher
Brad Penny
- #36 RHP
- (5-2) 5.32 ERA 44 SO
Penny tossed six shutout innings against the vaunted Yankees last Thursday at Fenway Park, but a faulty outing by reliever Manny Delcarmen cost the burly right-hander his sixth win of the season. Despite swirling trade rumors and the imminent return of John Smoltz, Boston's No. 5 starter has kept the Red Sox in nearly every game he's pitched this season. A former Marlin, Penny is 1-1 with a 5.00 ERA in three career starts against his former team.

Sox win Fenway 500 (32-35) (40-25)
Red Sox 6, Marlins 1
Andrew Miller battled through 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking four, but the Marlins' lineup could do little with Red Sox pitching, going 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position.
