Cubs probable pitcher
Rich Harden
- #40 RHP
- (4-4) 4.95 ERA 67 SO
Harden lost his third straight decision in his last start against the Tigers. He gave up four runs, two earned, on four hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings. Harden hasn't looked sharp, although he says he's fine. He threw 109 pitches in the short outing. The right-hander has never faced the Pirates.

When the Pirates open a three-game series against the Cubs on Monday, it will mark Steve Pearce's eighth game with the team since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis. In that span, he's made just one start, had six at-bats and remains hitless.
Pirates probable pitcher
Zach Duke
- #57 LHP
- (8-5) 3.09 ERA 51 SO
Duke wasn't at his most efficient in his last start, but he sailed to his eighth season win nonetheless by allowing just one run on five hits in six innings. Duke has been the most consistent member of the rotation all season, pitching through the sixth in all but one of his 15 starts this season. He continues to have success pounding the inside of the plate and has been doing that to get ahead of hitters all year. Duke has made 14 career starts against the Cubs and is 4-5 with a 3.03 ERA.
