Offense making things easier for Sox

Ozzie Guillen was confused about his team's direction more than a week ago. But thanks to a resurgent offense, things may be getting a bit clearer for the White Sox manager.

Buehrle did not have his best stuff on Saturday against the Cubs. The White Sox ace tossed 5 2/3 innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits, while striking out three and walking three. He left after throwing 108 pitches, 65 for strikes, and he did not last at least six innings for the first time since his first start of the season on April 7. Buehrle has faced the Royals 40 times with 38 starts in his career, more than any other team. Lifetime against Kansas City, he is 19-8 with a 3.48 ERA. He last pitched against the Royals on May 30, going 7 1/3 innings and allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out six and walking none in a no-decision.

Sox win sixth straight

Mark Buehrle allowed one run on six hits and no walks in 8 1/3 innings, sending the White Sox to the win. Jayson Nix hit a solo home run, and Scott Podsednik and Gordon Beckham each added an RBI.
 

KC can't back Chen

Making his second start for the Royals, Bruce Chen gave up two runs in six-plus solid innings, but it wasn't enough. David DeJesus knocked in Kansas City's run in the ninth. Mark Teahen had two hits.
