White Sox set to face Greinke, Royals

Zack Greinke is not a headhunter and apparently doesn't hold any grudge against the White Sox. But the Royals starter has hit more White Sox batters than those from any other team.

White Sox probable pitcher

John Danks

  • #50 LHP
  • (6-6) 4.08 ERA 80 SO
In his most recent start, last Sunday, Danks sparkled against the Cubs for the second time in two weeks to pick up his sixth victory of the season. The left-hander went seven innings, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out five and walking four. He also held the opposition scoreless for the first time since his first start of the season, on April 9, against the Royals, whom he faces again in his next start. Danks is 1-0 with a 3.25 ERA in six career starts against the Royals.

Injuries have been a main storyline for the Royals in 2009 -- with three Opening Day starters having spent substantial time on the disabled list -- but the Royals are trying to work through it.

Danks blanks Royals (42-38) (33-46)

White Sox 5, Royals 0

Sox keep on rolling

John Danks fired 7 1/3 shutout innings en route to his seventh victory, and Scott Podsednik and A.J. Pierzynski each recorded three hits as the White Sox won their seventh consecutive game.

Greinke stumbles

Zack Greinke was on the wrong end of a pitchers' duel, as he allowed four runs over six innings. The Royals' much maligned-offense managed just six hits as Kansas City suffered its fourth loss in a row.
