That's right, when the calendar flips to Friday, Manny Ramirez will be back in the lineup after an extended absence ready to help the Dodgers generate some runs against the Padres.

Dodgers probable pitcher

Hiroki Kuroda

  • #18 RHP
  • (2-4) 3.77 ERA 35 SO
In his last start, Kuroda struggled early against the Mariners, allowing four runs in the first three innings, but he settled down after that. The right-hander's control wasn't the issue, as he allowed no walks and struck out five, but he was simply roughed up for eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. Kuroda is 3-1 with a 4.78 ERA in five career starts against the Padres.

Gaudin pumped for packed PETCO

The anticipation of pitching in a sold out PETCO Park on Friday held some interest to Padres pitcher Chad Gaudin on Thursday, though the same couldn't be said for who he'll be pitching against.

Mannywood invades San Diego (51-29) (34-45)

Dodgers 6, Padres 3

Manny held hitless

With Manny Ramirez back in the lineup, all eyes were leveled on the Dodgers slugger. While the man of the hour went 0-for-3 with a walk before exiting in the sixth, Los Angeles rode a five-run first inning sparked by Matt Kemp and Russell Martin -- who each drove home a pair of runs -- and four hits by Rafael Furcal to victory.

Gaudin hit hard

Chad Gaudin would like to forget Friday's first inning. While throwing 46 pitches, the starter -- who settled down over the next four innings -- allowed five runs that the Padres couldn't regain as they fell in the series opener. Scott Hairston ripped a solo shot and Adrian Gonzalez added a two-run double, but it proved not enough.
