Burnett took a tough-luck loss on Monday at Oakland, paying the price for a three-run fourth inning as he hurled a 99-pitch complete game in the Yankees' 3-0 defeat. Burnett got crossed up with catcher Jorge Posada on a balk -- one start after throwing three wild pitches -- and forgot to check a runner in an inning that cost him dearly. Burnett is winless in his last four starts with two losses but pitched terrific against Boston on Aug. 7, hurling 7 2/3 innings of scoreless one-hit ball as the Yankees won, 2-0.
