Baltimore manager Dave Trembley sat in the dugout before Tuesday's game and raved about his bullpen, which has begun to come together in the wake of the George Sherrill trade. And though his team wound up losing in the ninth, his points stood up.
Orioles probable pitcher
Jeremy Guthrie
- #46 RHP
- (8-12) 5.45 ERA 82 SO
Guthrie pitched seven strong innings in his most recent outing and allowed just one run, which came on a homer. Guthrie allowed two earned runs or fewer 17 times last season but has done it just five times this year. Guthrie, Baltimore's Opening Day starter, will try to throw through September for the first time in his career.

Birds finally find respite at Dome (52-75) (63-64)
Orioles 5, Twins 1
Backed by RBI hits from Nolan Reimold and Chad Moeller and a solo home run from Felix Pie, Jeremy Guthrie put a halt to the Twins' five-game run and delivered a solid seven frames to take the finale and leave the Metrodome on a positive note.

Having already clinched the three-game series against the Orioles, the Twins offense came out flat. Justin Morneau doubled in Joe Mauer in the fourth inning, but that was all for Minnesota as the club's five-game win streak came to an end.
