Jordan Pacheco went 0-for-4 Thursday but still has nine RBIs in his first 13 Major League starts. Since the All-Star break, Dexter Fowler has 35 extra-base hits in 63 games. He went 2-for-5 Thursday. Carlos Gonzalez is the first player in franchise history with consecutive seasons with at least 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases. Astros: Altuve honored
Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 Thursday and has hit safely in 27 of his last 38 games. He was named the Astros 2011 organizational Player of the Year and will be honored for that achievement in a pregame ceremony on Saturday. It's not a secret the Astros have been relying on plenty of rookies since trading Jeff Keppinger, Hunter Pence and Michael Bourn in July, and the experience the young players are getting has been beneficial. "There's no doubt they've learned a lot and we hope they can continue learning," Astros manager Brad Mills said. The proceeds from this weekend's Astros In Action Foundation Marketplace event will support the Montgomery County United Way's efforts for wildfire victims and the Urban Youth Academy. Worth noting
Longtime Astros TV play-by-play broadcaster Bill Brown was selected as the 2011 inductee into to the Astros Media Wall of Honor. The Rockies named Marcela de la Mar as the Ninth Annual Hispanic Adult Leadership Award winner for her work with the Mexican Cultural Center. The Astros are 10-5 at home since Aug. 16 and 15-13 at home since the All-Star break. The Astros have secured the first pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft.
