ARI@COL: Moyer tallies second win with quality outing

When the Marlins open their longest homestand of the season Monday against the Rockies, they'll be facing a familiar foe -- soft-throwing lefty Jamie Moyer.

Moyer, 49, has given Miami problems through the years, going 13-6 with a 3.09 ERA in 19 career starts against the Marlins, all of which were during his five seasons in Philadelphia. A win Monday will mark the 270th of his career.

Moyer, who picked up his third quality start of the season in his last outing, will also be facing one of 11 active managers who he has pitched against. Marlins skipper Ozzie Guillen went 4-for-22 against the southpaw in his career.

"About Jamie, that's amazing, what he's doing," Guillen said. "A lot of people think, every five days you pitch. Well, what you have to do between those five days is a lot. It's running, throwing, get yourself in shape. I just walk and I'm dying.

"Sometimes I just shake my head and say, 'How does this guy do it?'"

Sharing the mound with Moyer (2-3, 4.20 ERA) at Marlins Park will be another veteran left-hander, Mark Buehrle (3-4, 3.17 ERA).

In eight outings this season, Buehrle has been solid for the Marlins, earning quality starts six times and pitching well enough to give the Marlins a chance to win each time he has toed the rubber.

"He is what he is, and what everybody knows he can be," Marlins pitching coach Randy St. Claire said. "He's a strike-thrower. He makes people hit the ball. He doesn't hurt himself in any way. He fields well. He holds runners. He works quickly. He does all the little things. Everybody on the field loves that."

Rockies: Rosario raking as a rookie
• Rookie catcher Wilin Rosario leads all National League rookies in home runs this season with six. Rosario's six homers are the second most on the Rockies, and he has hit nine since making his Major League debut on Sept. 6, 2011, which is the most among NL catchers since that date.

Marlins: LoMo called upon at first
• With 2011 All-Star first baseman Gaby Sanchez optioned to Triple-A New Orleans, Logan Morrison got the nod at first base Sunday for the Marlins. Morrison's natural position is first, but he has been playing left field since 2010. Guillen said to expect Morrison and Greg Dobbs to see the majority of time at first.

Worth noting
The Marlins and Rockies split the season series last year, 3-3, with each team winning two out of three at home.
