One of the busiest teams in the trade market this season, the Rangers will officially add infielder Cristian Guzman on Saturday after agreeing to acquire him on Friday. Guzman will fill in for injured Ian Kinsler at second base.
Jorge Cantu, one of four veterans acquired by Texas in the last month (Cliff Lee, Bengie Molina, Guzman) joined the team on Friday, flying out as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning. On Friday, manager Ron Washington said Cantu will split time at first base with Mitch Moreland.
"I'll try to adjust," Cantu said. "That's what we all do, we adjust. When I'm out there I will make the best of it and contribute as much as possible to winning the division."
Washington also said Rich Harden, who hasn't pitched for the Rangers since June 11, will return from the 15-day disabled list Saturday and start. The move will relegate Scott Feldman, the team's Opening Day starter with a 5-9 record and 5.46 ERA, to the bullpen.
Since being placed on the DL, Harden made four rehab starts, his latest being a six-inning, two-run, 10-strikeout performance for Triple-A Oklahoma City.
"We told him he had to go to Triple-A and dominate, and on Monday he showed he could dominate," Washington said. "He dominated."
With Texas' acquisition of Lee, the Angels answered with a high-profile pitching swap of their own, trading Joe Saunders and three prospects for Dan Haren.
Though Haren's debut with the Angels didn't go as planned Monday -- he left in the fifth inning after getting drilled in the forearm by a line drive -- the 29-year-old righty will take to the mound on Saturday. Haren threw a side session on Wednesday and reported no setbacks.
"He felt good," manager Mike Scioscia said. "He had no problem manipulating the ball throwing all his pitches."
Angels: Kazmir close to rehab stint
Scott Kazmir, on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder fatigue, could start his Minor League rehab assignment on Monday if all goes well in Saturday's bullpen session.
"I'll know as soon as the bullpen is over," Kazmir said. "I should have a good idea what their plan is. I felt very comfortable on Wednesday -- good arm speed, staying through the ball. Those were good signs, so I'm optimistic."
Rangers: Double-A prospects sent to Nats
In order to get Guzman, the Rangers sent a pair of Double-A right-handers, Ryan Tatusko and Tanner Roark to Washington. Tatusko, 25, was 9-2 with a 2.97 ERA in 24 appearances (13 starts), while Roark, 23, was 10-5 with a 4.20 ERA in 22 outings (17 starts) for Frisco.
The Angels won't likely be trading away any players, but could be in the market for another bat. Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee vetoed a trade to the Angels earlier this week. The Rangers, meanwhile, are trying to gauge interest around the league in regards to Harden and Feldman.

Fresh off DL, Harden puts hurt on Halos
Rich Harden allowed just one run over seven innings in a triumphant return off the DL, needing only Vladimir Guerrero's two-run homer to outduel Dan Haren, who went the distance in his second start for the Angels.
