The southpaw has gone 3-0 since he was acquired by the Dodgers at the Trade Deadline, and he will attempt to keep that perfect record intact when Los Angeles squares off with the Rockies in the rubber match of a three-game set between two teams desperately trying not to fall out of the National League playoff picture.
Though Lilly has found personal success since coming to Los Angeles, he doesn't exactly want to hear about it. That's because the Dodgers have gone 7-10 in August to fall 12 games back in the NL West and eight back in the Wild Card race.
"Well, we're more games back than when I first got here. How good is that?" Lilly said. "You know what I mean? That's the whole deal, right? That's why I'm here, to try to help the team win. I'd be excited about it if I was pitching well and we were a game back. I feel really good about my contribution."
Still, Lilly has seen his season take a fairly dramatic turn since the trade, as he had tallied just three wins against eight losses with the Cubs in 2010. He is coming off a victory at Atlanta where he tossed six shutout innings while yielding just three hits to lower his ERA with the Dodgers to 1.89.
The Rockies will counter with Jorge De La Rosa, who has not allowed more than three runs in a start since July 17. In his last outing against Milwaukee on Saturday, he gave up a trio of runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings but did not factor into the decision.
Rockies: EY's presence felt
Rookie Eric Young Jr. has made an immediate impact since being called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Saturday, as he has reached base safely while hitting leadoff in all four of his starts. He has started three games at second base and one in left field and has also stolen three bases.
Dodgers: Injury updates
Two of the Dodgers' biggest offensive threats appear to be heading in opposite directions when it comes to their health, as Manny Ramirez began his Minor League rehab assignment with Class A Inland Empire on Wednesday, while Rafael Furcal's back pain continued to get worse. Furcal will receive a bone scan on Thursday. Ramirez went 1-for-2 with a walk and a strikeout as the designated hitter for Inland Empire.
"Today it's not good," Furcal said of his back on Wednesday. "It's frustrating for me. I want to get healthy to play. I don't have control. If I could find something to make me feel better and play, I'd do it. I'm trying the best I can."
The Rockies are 16-4 when Dexter Fowler records multiple hits. ... A single in the second inning on Wednesday snapped an 0-for-21 slump for Seth Smith that had dated back to July 31. ... Reliever Matt Belisle has not allowed a run in his last 11 appearances (13 innings). He has tallied 17 strikeouts against one walk during that span, and his 78 strikeouts total this season ranked third in the NL entering Wednesday. ... Ian Stewart has hit safely in 11 consecutive starts. ... James Loney has 33 doubles this season, which is two away from his career high. ... Scott Podsednik is batting .336 (50-of-149) since July 9. ... Jamey Carroll is riding a seven-game hitting streak.

Dodgers roll Rockies behind Lilly's gem
