December 26, 1919 > Boston Red Sox owner Harry Frazee secretly agrees to sell star outfielder-pitcher Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees for $400,000 in cash plus other considerations. Ruth is coming off a season in which he led the AL in home runs, RBIs, runs, slugging percentage and on-base percentage; he also won 9 games in limited time on the mound. The sale of Ruth will be announced publicly one week later.
