Baseball Hall of Fame
First Week in January
On Jan. 1, 1911, future Hall of Famer Hank Greenberg was born in New York City. In 1930, Greenberg made his Major League debut at the age of 19. A slugging first baseman, Greenberg hit 331 home runs during a career interrupted by World War II, captured two American League MVP awards with the Detroit Tigers and won election to the Hall of Fame in 1956.
