Baseball Hall of FameThird Week in October
On Oct. 13, 1960, future Hall of Famer Bill Mazeroski of the Pittsburgh Pirates wore this batting helmet when he struck one of the most dramatic home runs in World Series history. Maz's leadoff home run in the bottom of the ninth against Ralph Terry of the New York Yankees gave the Pirates a stunning 10-9 win in Game 7. Prior to Maz's historic blast, no player had ever hit a home run to end a World Series.
