Baseball Hall of FameFirst Week in November
On Nov. 2, 1974, home run king Hank Aaron defeated legendary Japanese slugger Sadaharu Oh in a home run-hitting contest in Tokyo, Japan. Hitting against the batting-practice pitches of New York Mets coach Joe Pignatano, Aaron won the competition, with 10 home runs to Oh's nine. Coincidentally, Aaron's tenure as a member of the Atlanta Braves also came to an end on this day. Aaron, who wore the Braves jersey pictured here, was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Dave May and Minor League pitcher Roger Alexander.
