Ed Smith has played cricket test matches for four years and first-class cricket for a decade. He's now captain of the Middlesex County Cricket Club, one of 18 major county cricket clubs in Great Britain. Educated at Cambridge University with First Class honors in history, Smith has published two highly acclaimed books: Playing Hard Ball, a comparison of baseball and cricket and On and Off the Field, which was named Wisden Book of the Year (2004). His new book What Sport Tells Us About Life will be published in March.
The multi-talented Smith presented a series on Radio 3 about classical music, writes for The Times of London and reviews history books for the Sunday Telegraph.
