On Thursday, April 9, 2009, just hours after pitching six shutout innings in his season debut, Nick Adenhart was involved in a car accident and died from his injuries.
To further his memory, Nick's family has established a charitable fund, through which all donations will be used to help support youth baseball leagues from his hometown area that have been adversely impacted by the financial downturn. For detailed information on the fund, click here.
Adenhart maintains his ranking on MLB.com's 2008 postseason Top 50 Prospects list, as it was based on a poll that rated the prospects as they stood prior to the 2009 season.
