Veteran left-hander Kennedy passes away suddenly at 28
Free agent left-hander Joe Kennedy died unexpectedly of unknown causes on Nov. 23 after passing out at his in-laws' home in Florida. He was 28. Kennedy pitched in the Major Leagues for seven seasons, compiling a 43-61 record with a 4.79 ERA for the Rays, Rockies, A's, D-backs and Blue Jays. Kennedy was the third active Major Leaguer to die since October 2006, following Cory Lidle of the Yankees and Josh Hancock of the Cardinals, both of whom were also pitchers.  More >
