Sox on verge of trophy

Geoff Blum homered in his first World Series at-bat to break a tie in the 14th inning of the longest game in Series history, moving the Sox one win away from their first World Series title since 1917. Chicago scored five in the fifth off Roy Oswalt to take its first lead before Houston countered. The contest lasted five hours and 41 minutes.

Early runs don't stand

Backed by four early runs, Houston's Roy Oswalt cruised into the fifth inning, but bogged down there, giving up five runs. Jason Lane, who homered in the fourth, tied it in the eighth with an RBI double, but Houston could not take advantage before Ezequiel Astacio gave up the deciding homer in the 14th.
