
Saito's bubby personality did not show through in Spring Training, when he was consumed with concern for family members in Sendai, Japan, who were affected by the huge earthquake and tsunami there. As the summer wore on and Saito shook off a series of injuries, he became an effective and well-liked cog in the bullpen. Born Feb. 14, 1970, he is the Brewers' oldest player.
