World Series umpires announced
Major League Baseball announced today the umpiring crew that will work the 98th World Series, scheduled to begin on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002.
Twenty-six-year veteran umpire Jerry Crawford will call the balls and strikes in Game 1 of the Fall Classic. Crawford, working his fifth World Series, will be joined by Angel Hernandez (first WS), Tim Tschida (second WS), Mike Winters (first WS), Mike Reilly (third WS) and Tim McClelland (third WS).
