BOT 5th: FLA 2, CHI 0: The Marlins left the bases loaded in the third and fourth innings, but broke through
against Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano in the fifth. After Miguel Cabrera walked on five pitches with one out
and Derrek Lee lined out to center field, Mike Lowell homered to left-center field for his second homer of
the series and a 2-0 Marlins' lead.
BOT 7th: FLA 3, CHI 0: Ivan Rodriguez continued a remarkable postseason by hitting a 0-1 pitch from
reliever Dave Veres over the extended wall in left field. It was Rodriguez's second homer of this series and
his 14th RBI this postseason.
BOT 8th: FLA 4, CHI 0: Jeff Conine gave the Marlins an insurance run and got in on the home run parade in the eighth. Batting with one one and the bases empty, Conine hit the first pitch he saw from left-handed reliever Mike Remlinger into the seats in left field. Conine's homer made it 4-0, and that was more than enough to get the NLCS back to Chicago on a day Marlins starter Josh Beckett went the distance and allowed two hits.
