Hurdle named to NL All-Star staff
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
National League All-Star manager Jack McKeon of the World Champion Florida Marlins today named Jimy Williams of the host Houston Astros and Clint Hurdle of the Colorado Rockies as National League coaches for the 75th Midsummer Classic to be played on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

Williams, who is in his third season with the Astros, has 37 years of professional baseball experience, the past 27 as a manager or coach. Under his guidance, the Astros finished one game shy of the Central Division-winning Chicago Cubs in 2003. He previously managed the Boston Red Sox (1997-2001) and guided them to two consecutive American League Wild Card berths in 1998 and 1999. In 1999, Williams was named the American League Manager of the Year. He is making his fifth All-Star appearance as a coach.

Hurdle, in his third season as Rockies' manager, will be appearing in his first All-Star Game. He was named the fourth manager in team history on April 26, 2002. Prior to being named manager, Hurdle had served at the Rockies' hitting coach for five full seasons and managed in the Mets' minor league system for six seasons.

McKeon has also invited members of his coaching staff, Jeff Cox, Doug Davis, Perry Hill, Bill Robinson, Wayne Rosenthal and Pierre Arsenault to handle batting practice and other field duties.

Astros' trainers Dave Labossiere and Rex Jones will complete the National League All-Star Team staff.
