Alou would 'love' to play for dad
Says finishing career with father in SF would be ideal

FUKUOKA, Japan -- For Moises Alou, this Japan All-Star Series is a chance to right a wrong. He once turned down an invitation to join the Major League Baseball All-Stars, a decision he still regrets.

After this eight-game series is over, he said he'd like one more chance at redemption. At 38 years old and a free agent anchored to no Major League team, he wants to finish his career playing again for his father, Felipe Alou, who's managing the San Francisco Giants.

"I always said that I'd love to play again for my dad," said the younger Alou, who spent his first five big league seasons from 1992 to 1996 playing for his father with the Montreal Expos. "I really had a great time and I really learned a lot.

"It was a chance that I got to spend a lot of time with my dad. My parents were divorced when I was three years old. My relationship with my dad is getting better and better. I really enjoy spending time with him. I think there's a big chance that I could go there if the Giants try to get me."

After a travel day from Tokyo to this tropical spot far to the south, the tour resumes in its barnstorming stage on Tuesday night in the Fukuoka Dome, beginning a stretch of four games in four nights in four different cities.
