Javelinas 12, Saguaros 10

Doubles by Josh Barfield (SD) and Shin-Soo Choo (SEA) drove in two runs, breaking a 10-10 tie and giving the Javelinas a 12-10 advantage in the top of the ninth inning. Brad Baker (SD) shut down the Saguaros in order securing the win for the Javelinas.
Padres prospects Ben Johnson and Paul McAnulty each hit a home run for the Javelinas. Johnson's home run came in the fourth inning and McAnulty followed with a two-run shot two batters later. Third baseman Greg Dobbs (SEA) and Barfield led the offense with three hits apiece. Dobbs finished 3-for-5 with a stolen base and two runs scored. Barfield went 3-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Choo finished 2-for-5, with an RBI double in the ninth and a three-run home run in the seventh.
For the Saguaros, Wayne Lydon (NYM) and Stefan Bailie (BOS) each had three hits. Lydon hit a triple, stole a base and scored two runs. Bailie had a double and a home run, drove in two runs and scored twice for the Saguaros. To celebrate his 23rd birthday, Sheldon Fulse (BOS) added two hits, three RBIs and a run. Pirates prospect Freddy Sanchez was the only other Saguaros hitter to have a multihit game. Sanchez had two hits and walked twice.
Javelinas pitcher R.D. Spiehs (SD) earned his first win of the AFL season. Spiehs pitched one inning of no-hit ball. Saguaros pitcher Jeff Miller (PIT) was credited with his first loss of the season.

Solar Sox 10, Rafters 4
The Solar Sox delayed Grand Canyon's late season playoff push Wednesday, beating the Rafters 10-4. Mesa's first three hitters: Adam Greenberg (CHC), Pedro Lopez (CHW) and Reid Gorecki (STL) all had three hits in the win. Eight of the nine starters had at least one hit for the Solar Sox.
Mesa was trailing, 4-2, entering the bottom of the fifth and scored four runs to take the lead. Cardinals prospects Gorecki and Chris Duncan had hits in the rally. The Solar Sox scored four more times in the bottom of the seventh, with Casey Rogowski (CHW) hitting a home run.
Three Rafters players hit well in the losing effort. Fred Lewis (SF), Chris Shelton (DET) and Kevin West (MIN) were each 2-for-4.

Desert Dogs 3, Scorpions 2
Both the Desert Dogs and Scorpions had chances late in the game, but neither team scored in the final four innings as Phoenix beat Scottsdale, 3-2. Jeremy Hermida (FLA) was 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk. The win puts Phoenix 3 1/2 games ahead of second-place Grand Canyon in the National Division.
James Loney (LA) hit a double over the center fielder's head in the bottom of the second, scoring Corey Myers (AZ) and giving Scottsdale an early 1-0 lead. The Desert Dogs would come back to tie the game, 1-1, in the top of the third on a solo home run by Jeremy Hermida (FLA).
Conor Jackson (AZ) hit a solo home run to left-center field, giving Scottsdale a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, but the lead would not last long. Two runs on groundouts by the Desert Dogs gave them a 3-2 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
The Phoenix bullpen held Scottsdale scoreless for the final five innings, including a two inning save for Huston Street (OAK).
