Rafters 12, Javelinas 7
Grand Canyon pounded out 15 hits in a 12-7 win over the Peoria Javelinas on Friday at Peoria Sports Complex. Six different players had two hits for the Rafters. Mitch Jones (NYY) led the way, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs in the win.
Grand Canyon took a 5-0 lead with five runs in the third inning. Jones had a hit that scored two of his four RBIs in the rally. Peoria got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third on an RBI double by Jason Cooper (CLE). The Javelinas added two more runs to cut the Rafters lead to 5-3.
Josh Barfield (SD) hit a two-run home run in the three-run sixth inning for the Javelinas to give Peoria a 6-5 lead. The Javelinas' bullpen let the game get away, allowing seven runs in the last three innings. Grand Canyon's win keeps them 2 1/2 games behind the first place Phoenix Desert Dogs with five games to play.

Saguaros 6, Scorpions 0
Four Scottsdale errors helped the Peoria Saguaros beat the Scorpions, 6-0, Friday night. J.R. House (PIT) was 3-for-4 for Peoria. With the win, the Saguaros are only one game behind Scottsdale for first place in the Arizona Fall League American Division. The two teams play Saturday in Peoria.
After a quick first three innings, back-to-back doubles by Brett Harper (NYM) and House gave the Saguaros a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth. Peoria scored again in the top of the sixth on an RBI single by Sheldon Fulse (BOS).
Tomorrow's key game will have Jason Arnold (TOR) on the mound for Peoria. Scottsdale's starting pitcher has not been announced.

Desert Dogs 5, Solar Sox 4
The Phoenix Desert Dogs held off a late rally by the Mesa Solar Sox to capture a 5-4 win and hold their ground on a surging Grand Canyon Rafters team heading into the final week of the season.
Brian Dopirak (CHC) put a scare into the Dogs, hitting a three-run homer in the top of the eighth to bring Mesa within one, 5-4. Dopirak went 2-for-3 on the day, while teammate Brian Anderson (COL) garnered three hits in the loss.
Phoenix broke it open in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on a solo shot by Mike Napoli (ANA) and an errant throw to first base, scoring Jeremy Hermida (FLA) and Nick Gorneault (ANA) to give the Dogs a 4-1 advantage.
Starting pitcher Steve Obenchain (OAK) pitched five innings, giving up six hits while holding Mesa to one earned run. Hermida led the Phoenix offense with two hits including a double.
