Guerrero was named a recipient of the 2005 Silver Slugger Award, which is given to the best offensive players at each position in both the American and National Leagues.
The award is Guerrero's second consecutive honor with the Angels and fifth such award in his career. In his two seasons with the club, Guerrero has made an impact. He also was AL MVP in 2004. The Angels have now had a Silver Slugger honoree in each of the past six seasons.
Guerrero hit .317 with 32 home runs and 108 RBIs this season. The 29-year-old Dominican finished third in the AL in batting average and tallied at least 30 homers and 100 RBIs for the seventh time in his last eight big league seasons.
On Sept. 2, 2005, he became one of just 11 players in Major League history to hit 300 home runs before the age of 30.
At times during the 2005 season, Guerrero was a one-man wrecking crew. In April he hit .351 with five homers and 19 RBIs and after cooling off in May when he partially dislocated his left shoulder on a headfirst slide at Dodger Stadium, Guerrero hit .443 with seven homers and 20 RBIs in June with a 1.274 OBP. Guerrero slipped again in July, but came back in August with a .340 batting, seven home runs and 24 RBIs.

Guerrero, who last week was named to MLB's Latino Legends Team, was also voted as a starting outfielder in the 2005 All-Star Game and to the Sporting News 2005 All-Star team.
The Silver Slugger award, which is presented by Louisville Slugger, is voted on by managers and coaches from each league. Selections are based on a combination of offensive statistics for the 2005 season and general impressions of a player's overall offensive value. Managers and coaches could not vote for players from their own team.
Other Angels to win Silver Sluggers in the last six years include Garret Anderson in 2002 and '03, Darin Erstad in 2000 and Troy Glaus in 2000, '01.
