Trio of homers enough for Rangers
Teixeira goes deep in third straight game; Loe excels
RANGERS 4, MARLINS 1
at Frisco, Texas
Friday, March 31
Rangers at the plate: Brad Wilkerson led off for Texas in the first inning with a homer. Mark Teixeira continued his hot streak, homering in the third. Teixeira has homered in three straight games and has hit safely in seven of his last eight games. David Dellucci also had a solo homer.
Marlins on the mound: Starter Brian Moehler had a rocky outing, allowing four runs and eight hits over five innings.
Rangers on the mound: Starter Kameron Loe threw three scoreless innings before Jacobs homered leading off the fourth. Loe worked out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the third when he retired Miguel Cabrera on a popup. Fabio Castro, Erasmo Ramirez, Joaquin Benoit, Antonio Alfonseca and Francisco Cordero each pitched a scoreless inning from the fifth through the ninth in an effective night for the Rangers bullpen.
Up next: Texas hosts Florida on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. CT at Ameriquest Field.
Exhibition records: Marlins 19-8-3; Rangers 11-16-1.
