In August, Humberto Quintero started to heat up with Triple-A Round Rock, collecting hits in his final 10 games. Not much has changed since then as the 27-year-old catcher is even hotter in the Venezuelan Winter League, hitting .409 in his first six games with Aguilas del Zulia.

It got even better last week. After Quintero's five-game hitting streak was snapped on Nov. 4, he came back with his best performance on Tuesday. The catcher went 4-for-6 with three doubles and three RBIs.

The rest of the Houston Astros prospects are also making progress in their various fall and winter leagues. Here's how they did in the past week.

Venezuelan Winter League

LHP Carlos Hernandez: Hernandez made two starts in the past week, but he couldn't pick up a decision. The southpaw gave up six runs -- five earned -- on 14 hits and four walks with nine strikeouts in 9 2/3 innings. So far, the 5-foot-10, 200-pound Hernandez is 1-1 with a 4.18 ERA.

RHP Felipe Paulino Del Guidice: After taking a loss in his first three winter-league games, the right-hander gave up two runs on two hits in 2 1/3 innings on Nov. 4. He owns an 0-3 record with an 8.74 ERA.

C Hector Gimenez: The 5-foot-10, 180-pound backstop went 2-for-9 in the past week with a two-run blast on Nov. 4. The 24-year-old catcher is hitting .265 with a homer and seven RBIs in 11 games with Navegantes del Magallanes

LHP Enyelbert Soto: Soto had a rough outing in his most recent appearance on Nov. 4, yielding two runs on one hit in one inning. The left-hander has a 10.80 ERA in six games.

OF Jorge Cortes: The 26-year-old Cortes is hitless in his last 11 at-bats, dropping his batting average to .184.

RHP German Melendez: The young right-hander hasn't pitched since the last update.

Arizona Fall League

RHP Chad Reineke: In his last four appearances, Reineke worked 6 1/3 scoreless frames and hadn't given up a base hit, but both streaks ended when he gave up a run on one hit in one inning on Tuesday.

LHP Mark McLemore: The 26-year-old southpaw gave up runs in four straight appearances from Oct. 13-30. He improved in the past week, yielding one run on four hits in three innings over three games.

RHP Matt Albers: The 23-year-old right-hander matched his shortest outing of the season on Monday, yielding an unearned run on two hits in two innings. That appearance lowered his ERA to 2.40.

LHP Troy Patton: The 21-year-old Patton has given up one run on one hit in his last 4 2/3 innings. He capped his week by picking up a win on Wednesday with a perfect frame in a 4-0 victory over Grand Canyon.

OF Hunter Pence: The 23-year-old outfielder left the AFL on Nov. 3 due to an off-the-field incident.

C Lou Santangelo: Santangelo returned home to be with his pregnant wife.

Mexican Pacific League

2B/SS Jesse Garcia: The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Garcia is in a 1-for-12 slide that has dropped his batting average to .244. On a positive note, after walking just once in his first 17 games, he earned three free passes in his past two contests.

Hawaii Winter Baseball

3B Koby Clemens: Clemens showed signs of heating up with a four-game hitting streak from Oct. 29-Nov. 5, but went hitless in his next six at-bats. The 19-year-old Clemens is batting .217 for the North Shore Honu.
