The deal is pending a physical examination for Gonzalez. The club has targeted Gonzalez, who spent the last eight seasons with Arizona, for outfield help since J.D. Drew's departure and beat out the Orioles and Cardinals for the veteran's services.
Gonzalez, 39, is a career .284 hitter with 331 homers and 1,324 RBIs in 16-plus seasons in the Majors. He had a career-high 52 doubles in 2006.
He is expected to play left field next year, with Andre Ethier moving to right field.
