Jays lose pitchers' duel to Rays
Defensive miscue allows Tampa Bay to edge Toronto

Devil Rays at the plate: In the seventh inning, outfielder Delmon Young singled and later scored from third base on an error. Left fielder Carl Crawford went 0-for-3 in his first game in four days. Center fielder Elijah Dukes doubled off the wall in left-center field in the third.
Blue Jays at the plate: Toronto had runners on first and third with one out in the third inning, but they were unable to capitalize. Left fielder Reed Johnson and designated hitter Frank Thomas each had two hits for the Jays.
Devil Rays on the mound: Left-hander Casey Fossum worked five scoreless innings. He threw 75 pitches and yielded five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Al Reyes had one strikeout in one inning of work.
Blue Jays on the mound: Right-hander Geremi Gonzalez made his first start of the spring and turned in three shutout innings. Gonzalez threw 43 pitches, allowed one hit and recorded one strikeout.
Grapefruit League records: Devil Rays 9-17-1; Blue Jays 10-12-4.
Up next: Toronto left-hander Gustavo Chacin is scheduled to take the mound against Cleveland lefty C.C. Sabathia when the Blue Jays face the Indians at 1:05 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Chain of Lakes Park.
The Rays will travel to Clearwater on Wednesday afternoon for a 1:05 contest against the Phillies. Left-hander Scott Kazmir will make his final start of the spring before starting against the Yankees in the Rays' opener on Monday at Yankee Stadium.
