Johnson impressive in D-backs' loss
Unit tosses three shutout frames in first Cactus League start

Padres on the mound: Mike Thompson pitched himself into and out of jams in the early going. Thompson allowed seven baserunners in his four innings, but did not allow any to score. Thompson was helped by a pair of double plays.
D-backs on the mound: Johnson was impressive in his first Cactus League "A" game of the spring. The Big Unit allowed just two hits in three scoreless innings. He didn't walk a batter and fanned five. He threw 38 pitches, 28 for strikes. Cactus League records: Padres 15-11-1; D-backs 18-12. Up next: The two teams square off again Friday afternoon at the Peoria Sports Complex. Edgar Gonzalez, who was named the No. 4 starter a couple of days ago, will make his final spring start against San Diego's Chris Young.
