Marte day-to-day with hamstring injury
Third baseman forced to leave Sunday's game
ST. PETERSBURG -- Third baseman Andy Marte is day-to-day after having to leave Sunday's game with a strained left hamstring, Indians manager Eric Wedge said.
Marte was limping noticeably while attempting to run out his ground out in the third inning against Tampa Bay. He was replaced in the lineup by Trot Nixon, who moved to right field, bumping Casey Blake to third base.
The 23-year-old Marte has been struggling defensively this season, and he received a two-day break earlier in the week to try to take some pressure off him. He was hitting .184 [7-for-38] heading into Sunday. More details will be made known as they become available.
