Tim Harikkala may be a familiar face to the Rockies.

Harikkala, 36, pitched for them in 2004, making 55 relief appearances (6-6, 4.04 ERA). He set a club record by retiring the first 22 batters he faced. Since then, he pitched for the Athletics for part of 2005 and in Korea before rejoining the Rockies' organization on July 27.

But the Rockies have no idea what they'll get Sunday.

Harikkala was 1-0 with a 1.84 ERA after joining Triple-A Colorado Springs, but just one of his four games was a start.

"Our bullpen is in good shape to provide us with some innings -- we might need them, we might not need them," Rockies manager Clint Hurdle said. "He threw 66 pitches his last start. He's been starting where he was pitching, Korea. We'll see how many outs he can get. You'll never know."

Pitching matchup
COL: RHP Tim Harikkala (first 2007 start)
Harikkala, 36, returns to the Majors for the first time since a June 16, 2005, relief appearance for the Athletics against the Mets. It's his first start in the Majors since May 27, 1994, when he gave up four hits and six runs in 4 1/3 innings for the Mariners in a 9-2 loss to the Orioles. In Korea for the better part of two seasons, he was 6-8 with a 5.21 ERA.

CHC: LHP Sean Marshall (5-6, 4.17 ERA)
Marshall is coming off a loss to Houston, although he could've used a little run support. The lefty gave up five runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings. It was an improvement after his previous outing, when he was pulled after 2 2/3 innings. Marshall has fared better on the road, and is 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA in seven games away from Wrigley. This will be his first start against the Rockies this season.

Player to watch
Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has had two four-hit games, including Saturday night in a 15-2 victory over the Cubs, during this homestand.
