Right-hander Joe Blanton and the A's agreed to a 2008 contract on Friday, leaving the club with one remaining possible salary arbitration case.

Blanton, a 14-game winner in 2007 who is being counted on as the staff ace following the offseason trade of Dan Haren, will make $3.7 million in 2008 based on the one-year deal.

The 27-year-old earned the Major League minimum of $380,000 last season, when he ranked fourth in the big leagues with 230 innings, posting a 3.95 ERA along with a 14-10 record.

The one-year agreement with Blanton left Chad Gaudin as the lone Oakland player still eligible for arbitration. Another arbitration eligible player, closer Huston Street, agreed to a deal on Thursday.

Blanton underscored his breakthrough season with pinpoint control, issuing 40 walks for an average of 1.57 per nine innings -- the third-lowest figure in Oakland history.

In 2007, he maintained a career-long upward trend. He has won in double figures, made 31-plus starts and hurled 190-plus innings each season.

Blanton has a lifetime record of 42-34, with a 4.10 ERA.
