Following their morning workout, players from the 2007 Red Sox, as well as manager Terry Francona, coaches and field staff will fly from Fort Myers to Washington, D.C. Principal owner John W. Henry will also take the trip, as well as club chairman Tom Werner and president/CEO Larry Luccchino and other members of the front office.
The 2004 Red Sox were honored for their accomplishment at the White House on March 2, 2005.
A visit to the White House won't be the only trip on the docket for the Sox. The players will also visit with patients at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The championship trophy will also be present during the meeting at the Medical Center.
It will be a whirlwind day for the Sox, as they will fly back to Fort Myers on Wednesday night and open their exhibition season on Thursday with a day-night, college doubleheader against Boston College and Northeastern University.
