Marlins post three-run fifth in exhibition

Marlins at the plate: A one-out walk to Dan Uggla set up a two-run first inning. Jeremy Hermida had a single, and Josh Willingham's RBI single opened the scoring. Mike Jacobs lifted a sacrifice fly. In the second, Cody Ross walked and scored on a wild pitch. The Marlins added three in the fifth. Chris Coghlan singled and scored on a throwing after following Jai Miller's single to right. Alejandro De Aza had an RBI single, and Gaby Sanchez drove in a run with a double.

Hurricanes at the plate: In the fifth inning, UM pushed across two runs on Ryan Jackson's RBI double and Jason Hagerty's run-scoring single.

Marlins on the mound: Starter Bobby Keppel worked one inning in a game that was delayed 33 minutes in the bottom of the first inning. The right-hander was benefited by a terrific lunging play by shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who started a double play. Chris Seddon worked two scoreless innings, striking out three.

Hurricanes on the mound: Starter John Housey gave up two runs on two hits with a walk, and he threw 21 pitches in the first inning. It was the right-hander's only inning.

Up next: The Marlins open their Grapefruit League schedule on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. ET. Scott Olsen will face Matt Chico of the Nationals.
